1931 Packard Phaeton 840 | ||
| Packard for 1931 continued with the same body styles introduced in 1929 while adding several changes in styling and mechanical areas. The transmission redesign allowed for quicker shifting, and the fuel pump replaced a vacume tank system. An automatic chassis lubrication system as well as longer and wider springs were added. New shock absorbers were fitted for a more luxurious ride and handling. The engine recieved improved intake and exhaust passages as well as new intake and exhaust manifolds. This increased output to 100 HP. Only 2035 were built, and production was halted early in June because of the deep economic depression. This car represents one of the last 840's sold. | ![]() |
