| Our 1958 DeSoto Fire Sweep is doubly rare. It came in one model, the convertible, and was the most expensive DeSoto ever. The Hemi had been replaced by the "wedgehead" V8's. The Fire Sweep has a flash engine, the turbo flash with 350 cd and generated 295 bhp (optional). It can go 0 to 60 in 7.7 seconds and 115 mph with little strain. Ours is pale green with darker green in the upholstery. The control toggles for the torque flight transmission are on the top left dash. Total sales were slight in 57 (120,000) and the DeSoto just slid out of sight in 59. Our Fire Sweep is the most requested car to be photographed at Bayberry. | |
